A Newcastle man is facing the alleged charge of indecency with a child following a Sept. 14 indictment. Michael Lee Moore, 35, was indicted last month by a Young County Grand Jury and charged with the second-degree felony.

The recently unsealed indictment alleges Moore, on or about May 14, 2020, engaged in sexual contact with a child under 17 years of age.

In a probable cause affidavit filed June 5, 2020 by a deputy with the Young County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s mother reported the incident to YCSO by phone May 19, 2020. The mother stated the victim had made an “outcry of an assault” which allegedly occurred the previous week.

A forensic interview was conducted with the victim on May 20, 2020. During the interview, the victim stated the incident took place during the early morning hours at Moore’s residence.
