A body was discovered Saturday, July 2, in one of the clothing donation boxes at the back of the Loving Highway Church of Christ in the 1000 block of Loving Highway in Graham. The deceased has been identified as David Donald, 33, of Graham.

Local and area law enforcement officials are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found this weekend. As of Tuesday afternoon, no known connection between the two deaths has been identified.

On Saturday morning, July 2, at about 6:13 a.m., the Graham Police Department responded to a report of suspicious circumstances in the 1000 block of Loving Highway. According to a press release by Police Chief Tony Widner, upon arrival at the location, police met with two subjects who reported that they had discovered the body of a white male in one of the clothing collection boxes behind the Loving Highway Church of Christ.

The deceased has been identified as David Donald, 33, of Graham. Donald was found wearing only a pair of shorts.

A preliminary examination of Donald did not reveal any obvious indications of injury, violence, or foul play, Widner said in a written report. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but the body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding Donald being found in the collection boxes are still under investigation. Investigators have been told that people have gotten into the boxes in the past to get clothes and other items.

Graham Police, Young County Sheriff’s Department personnel, Texas Rangers and the District Attorney’s Office are in constant communication and are actively involved in this case, according to Widner.

“This is a tragedy not only for the family who has lost a loved one but a tragedy for our community. We are actively pursuing any and all leads on this investigation. We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers,” Widner said.

On Sunday, July 3, a day after Donald’s discovery, at around 11:20 a.m., a 33-year-old white female was found dead on Lowe Road off of Texas Highway 251, between Newcastle and Olney, according to a release by Department of Public Safety Media Communications Sgt. Dan Buesing.

Tuesday afternoon, Buesing said the woman found was Shelby Gober from Olney. The Texas Rangers are investigating the case.
